pre-travel phone roundup.

hello from switzerland! we're on step one of our 2015 travel summer extravafranza, & i'm already feeling pretty behind on blogging about that--so the fact that i'm still catching up on photos that happened before that has me all sorts of stressed out. so let's just bullet-point (a verb) our way through this:
  • (one of) the best part(s) of visiting your the free babysitting. one night after popping norah in bed (7 pm to 7 am, high-five), we headed over to red robin in a true fit of suburbia zeal. (do you hate that we chose red robin? or love it?) it was actually a bit of a hurried dinner, because we only had a few minutes before the movie started...& yet that didn't keep us from hearing waiters sing "happy birthday" to various tables SEVERAL TIMES.
  • SOLID FOO--hang on, still had my caps lock on from my mad max testimonial. i meant to say "solid food fun."
  • we haven't gotten a high chair yet (by the time she was old enough to really start needing one, it was almost time for us to leave for the summer & we wanted to keep our apartment as uncluttered as possible for our subletters), so we've been feeding her in her stroller. classy!

her cheeeeeks in this one:

  • while the three of us were in vancouver, we went back to this delicious restaurant we ate at last summer. now that norah is here, it's crazy to start thinking where we were a year ago & how much has changed since then. anyway, the food at aphrodite cafe is great:
  • ben & i took turns (also while we were in vancouver) seeing a movie while the other stayed home with the babe. i went to see far from the madding crowd & i was THE youngest person in the room. i even snapped a picture of the situation so that when ben picked me up, i could tell him "i was, literally, the youngest person in the room" & be able to provide cold, hard, photographic evidence:
  • store names in vancouver though (this one sells bikes & bike parts) :
  • to get from vancouver back down to everett, we took a train (which actually ended up being surprisingly easy, cheap, & quick, as trains often are). somehow the amount of stuff we had seemed to multiply the longer we stood there:

all that, plus this little, most precious cargo:

  • we found a pretty fantastic candy store in the denver airport...

...& i don't know why i still look, hoping to find my name on a box of mints. ben found his, which is extremely par for the course, but i found the second best option:

  • these next photos are from a day the bronx zoo with some of norah's little pals & their moms. norah was the smiliest girl on the block:

walks with this guy (& a sleeping norah, see her in there?)

  • no further commentary needed here:
  • nay, nor here, either:
  • & lunch with friends while norah played with a sweet fellow babe

phew. thanks for reading!

  1. I mean this completely sincerely: I think you have my favorite blog on the internet.

I love you, I love your style (Madewell mini Transport Tote? Obsessed with mine, too), your baby (I CAN'T), your photos (the movie theater picture SLAYED ME), your food choices (we similarly had an uncharacteristic outing to Outback last weekend because SUBURBIA), and the list goes on.

I basically awkwardly want to be you.

    1. OH MY GOSH. These are some of the nicest things anyone could ever say to me. I'm basically going to save this comment forever. Mostly because I think YOU'RE so completely awesome. I STILL remember that great photo of you in a yellow beret & holding baguettes because of how amazing it is. I'm so glad I'm not the only one who chooses different restaurants in the 'burbs--I left Red Robin with #noregrets, haha. Madewell transport totes unite! xoxo
